Born and raised in Malaysia, Dr. Yap immigrated to the USA where he obtained his Bachelor of Kinesiology from Washington State University (GO COUGS!) while serving on the Division 1 Varsity Strength & conditioning team. He went on to pursue his Doctor of Chiropractic degree and Bachelor of Human Biology from the University of Western States in Portland Oregon.

Dr. Yap is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and has enjoyed working with a wide variety of Division 1 athletes during his time in Washington which includes women’s rowing, women’s soccer, all track & field events, men’s golf, basketball, and baseball. His experience working in several multidisciplinary practices throughout Washington and Oregon has enabled Dr. Yap to work collaboratively with other health care professionals including primary care physicians, orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, physical therapists, and registered massage therapists to provide his patients with the most thorough and comprehensive care.

A former athlete himself, Dr. Yap enjoys strength training both indoor & outdoor and exploring new places to hike as often as he can here in beautiful Victoria, BC. He believes that leading an active lifestyle is integral to a healthy life. When he is not challenging himself physically, Dr. Yap spends his free time in the kitchen exploring new recipes and spending time with his wife.
